Our Experience Working with Community Banks

Our Experience Working with Community Banks

Thoughts about Community Banks

Talking with local mom-and-pop business owners has reinforced for me the important role community banks play in supporting small, family-owned businesses—the merchants that give our communities their local character and resilience.

Unlike large national banks, community banks are deeply embedded in the neighborhoods they serve. They know their customers, understand local market dynamics, and are often more willing to back entrepreneurs who don’t fit a rigid underwriting model. That relationship-first approach can be the difference between a business launching, surviving seasonal swings, or expanding.

From my perspective in the payments space, there’s a clear opportunity for stronger collaboration. Many community banks don’t offer in-house payment processing, yet their business customers increasingly expect modern, reliable, and well-supported solutions.

By partnering together, we can help level the playing field—giving local merchants the tools they need to compete while keeping their banking relationships close to home.
